What's up with my riso print?
- Risograph printing is a stencil based process that produces slight variations in registration, color, and texture. This means each print is unique, so please allow for slight misregistration and roller marks. Besides, that's the charm of the medium :)
- Risograph ink never completely dries. To avoid smudging, please don't touch the ink on the prints directly.

When will my order ship?
- I usually ship 1-7 days from the order date. There is a bit of a range because I only stop by the post office once a week. Thank you for your support and patience!
Expected delivery?
- Please allow 2-3 weeks for US orders
- Please allow 4-8 weeks for international orders
- Hopefully orders don't take over a month to arrive, but I've seen this happen firsthand with USPS due to the pandemic + holiday season. Thank you for your patience! Please contact me at firstholdstudio@gmail.com with your order number and full name if it doesn’t arrive to you in those time frames.
Why is shipping so expensive?
- Unfortunately shipping anything more than a letter can be pretty expensive, especially if you’re shipping internationally. :( I use USPS to have this as low as possible. Thank you so much for understanding!
Are there custom fees on my package?
- For international orders (except for the UK), note that you as the purchaser will be responsible for paying any additional import taxes, duties, or VAT charges that your country may require upon arrival. This applies to all packages no matter the package value, and can sometimes lead to package delays.
Which countries do you ship to?
- I ship everywhere except for the following due to USPS suspension or sanctions: The Balkans, Belarus, Burundi, Central African Republic, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan and Darfur, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Russia, Venezuela, Yemen, Zimbabwe.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
- As a small operation, I cannot accept returns or exchanges. However, if your package is lost or incredibly damaged, please contact me about your order and I'll do what I can!
How are you practicing sustainability?
- Packaging: All the rigid mailers and glassine bags I use are recyclable, but not all sustainable packaging is currently accessible to me. I am working towards making that change; it will just take some time :)
- Paper: The paper brands I use are made in the USA, and are either environmentally friendly or recycled.
- Cougar: Cougar by Domtar meets the standard of Forest Stewardship Council and are Rainforest Alliance Certified. Learn more about Cougar here.
- French Paper Co: This is a premium paper brand that offers stocks from recycled papers. Learn more about French here.
